Smiths Opens Second Location — 1981

It’s about time we got some Smiths ads up here. You got at least one Smiths Home Furnishings commercial during every local station break in the 1980s and 1990s. Their ads changed every week and there are hundreds of them (though most are variations on the same thing). I don’t know how much YOU’LL personally get out of them, but they’re a nostalgia blast for me, so…they get their own tag.

This is one of the earliest ones I’ve found, from around June of 1981, where Smiths was about to expand to TWO locations. This was the launch point for their takeover of the Northwest, lasting from about then to their bankruptcy in 1995. Perhaps they expanded too fast. We’ll never know.
