1992 Election Ads: Packwood Vs. AuCoin, Katz Vs. Blumenauer

Welcome to the first installment of our endless series of Portland (and Vancouver) election ads. These three minutes aren’t even close to the actual number of ads that aired that year, nor are they all I have access to. Much more on the way, whether you like it or not.

If I remember anything from the incessant barrage of political ads in ’92, it’s Packwood’s incredulous “He wants US to promote HIM to the US SENATE?” The nerve of that guy! And he’s anti-minivan!

Of course, Packwood had about one year to go before a long-brewing sexual harrassment scandal would bring HIM down, so…yeah. Political ads are rarely pretty in hindsight.
