KGW Sign-Off Sequence — 1986

Check it out — with this recent discovery, FPO now has the sign-off sequences from ALL the Portland TV stations! And the wildest may have been truly saved for last.

While on the surface this appears to be the most stereotypical sign-off of them all (it even ends with a waving American flag), the truth is….this is only the last two minutes.

KGW’s sign-off sequence went on for over a half-hour. No fooling. The content was

• 20 minutes of a woman named Willa Dorsey playing the electric organ and singing gospel songs
• 10 minutes of nature scenery accompanied by chorus singers and a deep-voiced man reading the opening chapter of the Book of Genesis very slowly
• Followed by what you see up above

Be grateful I didn’t make you watch the whole thing. This was recorded September 7, 1986.
