Nothing might come of it for years, and the new owners might choose to keep them here (hopefully). But the Portland Trail Blazers are such a big part of the culture here, and have been for such a long time, I don’t think things would feel the same with them gone. Their two trips to the finals during the 1990s were a big part of my childhood.

I heard “Rip City Rhapsody” a lot in the weeks leading up to their big game against the Pistons. Other kids sang it on the playground. Everybody ran around in “Blazers Western Conference Champions” T-shirts. Everyone knew the words to this by heart. Great to finally track down a tape with the video in its entirety.
