Two Dollar Bill Car Sale — September 1984

Big laugh at “WOW, LET’S SEE THAT AGAIN.” It was not uncommon for some local advertisers to run two 15-second spots back to back, but this is the first time I’ve seen one be so up-front about it.

Also, for those who weren’t around for two dollar bills, yes, there were once two dollar bills. They were out of circulation by the time I was growing up but my wiseacre uncle would give them to me in birthday cards — I guess he knew of some secret stockpile. I don’t know if uncirculated two dollar bills are worth anything now, but I hope not — being a kid, I spent all mine as fast as I could.
