Someone just informed me that Portland’s iconic “Spirit Of The Northwest” theme, which KATU used from 1988 through 1995, was not their own creation. It was actually a redub of “Spirit Of Texas,” used by station WFAA starting in 1985, three years before KATU swiped it. Video footage taken from YouTube’s “TexasTVNews”

You might be thinking “that doesn’t sound much like a Texas theme.” Well, the station eventually sold a cover that was done in country.
