KGON: More Than Rock — 1975

Wow! Someone found a KATU recording from May 8, 1975 — the earliest tape we will EVER see at FPO. 1975 was the year Sony introduced the Betamax, the first home consumer video format. I’m assuming this was originally captured with one of those (unless they somehow had a Catrivision). This is the furthest we can go back without having to track down some kind of kinescope or telecine.

This ancient KGON spot proves the station once had a lot more content than just music. It once had…uh, bedtime stories, about the Starship Enterprise, or something.
