Here are some typical shows you might find on KPDX in the late 80s. Unarguably the golden age of television, wouldn’t you say? The Small Wonder ad was donated by Chris Read.

I would argue the kidcom as we know it was born in syndication with these two shows. Then the format rose to popularity with TGIF, became dominant on cable, and…I have no idea if it will survive in the oncoming Streaming Age. Tomorrow’s kids could simply reject shows that look this cheap. Guess we’ll find out.
