Entire Uncut Oregon Public Broadcasting Theme Song — 1990s

Big moment in FPO history. I have been looking for this for a LONG time.

My grandfather used to watch the Nightly Business Report on PBS every night and there was always a segment that covered the prices of local stocks. During this segment, and ONLY during this segment, OPB played their ENTIRE 1990s theme song.

Ever since, I’ve been searching for a recording of it, but NBR is not the type of show people typically taped. Worse yet, the recording had to be regionally specific to Oregon, so there was no hope on eBay. It was Goodwill or nothing.

Over my many thrift store hunts, I’ve amazingly managed to find THREE different taped episodes of NBR from Portland…but NONE of them had the “Local Stocks” sequence with the music. I was beginning to wonder if this was some kind of Mandela Effect thing — was it ever even there?

Then it turned out I had it all along. A tape from Dad’s collection had one long programming block of PBS that included NBR…and the sequence was on that episode. What really threw me for a loop was the date: July 31, 2003. OPB had stopped using this theme by then — I never thought I’d find it on an airing this late.
