KATU Newswire Screen — October 16, 1985

This is one of the rarest finds we’ve ever found — over ten minutes of the KATU newswire screen! During the 1980’s, after the channel shut down for the night, it would display this teletext screen from 2 to 6 AM. This is the kind of thing that can only be taped by accident, and thus, was very hard to track down. Love that ultra-kitschy Muzak.

I don’t know when the Newswire was exactly retired, but I’ve found evidence of its use as late as 1990.
